Who we are
While Seattle is the birthplace of pickleball, Phoenix is the birthplace of junior club pickleball thanks to Monster Athlete Juniors, a traditional style club program that offers multiple club locations. The MAJ program provides weekly practices, inter-club scrimmages, and regular tournament play to junior age athletes. We do this through our centralized network of Arizona based club programs within our MAJ family as well as affiliated independent clubs. We are not a league or a traveling tournament program. Ours is a pioneering effort not currently offered by any other organizations we are aware of in the US. MAJ is the only current registered junior club entity in the DUPR system. And with over 400 athlete registrations across our two playing seasons in 2025 we are the #1 junior club program in Arizona and possibly the US.
Athletes between the ages of 8 and 17 have the opportunity to join junior pickleball clubs in their area, train weekly with qualified coaches, and compete in tournament play with athletes of similar age and abilities from other MAJ clubs. Our playing season runs for 12 weeks with two seasons per year, Fall and Spring. During the off season, MAJ offers clinics, tune-ups, and other playing opportunities.

Monster Athlete Juniors sponsors and conducts multiple junior pickleball tournaments each year throughout Arizona. Tournament formats may include singles, doubles, and four person (MLP style) format. Tournaments are held indoors and outdoors depending on the time of year. During each of our two playing seasons, MAJ club members can expect to play in a minimum of 3 tournaments for a total of 6 tournaments per year. Athletes will also be offered opportunities to compete in National level tournaments such as NJP, PPA and US Open for an additional fee.

Monster Athlete Juniors uses the term “MLP style” to indicate that it conducts a tournament with a format similar to the official MLP format but is no way meant to indicate any kind of official affiliation with MLP.
